some of the funny things our two year old has said lately:

stuffing mr. potato head's back trap door with some toys, 'nice and warm potato butt'

watching me get set up to pump after feeding liberty, 'warm milk mommy's tummy'

peeking down the front of my shirt, 'have some milk?'

staying in a hotel for the first time in awhile and marveling at what he thought was his new home, he bounces back on the bed looks up and says, 'my new ceiling!'

josh was leaving to watch playoff hockey one weekend evening. river looks at him morosely and says, 'you goin' work?' daddy responds, 'no, not work. I'll be back soon.' hearing 'soon' river brightens up and says ever so sweetly, 'you just getting mail?' he loves his daddy and misses him when he's gone.

snuggling before bed he says to me, 'don't kiss my face. face pokey.' (ya know, pokey like daddy's)

I caught him digging for gold in the rearview mirror while driving. 'whatcha doin' river?' met with the sweet response, 'just pickin my nose.'

a revelation coming home late one night in the car. 'I see stars! Stars coming with me!' As he realized they wouldn't pass from his sight like the trees, houses and cows. 

after supper: 'get down and play with my new car? and my mustache!' 'your mustache? oh you mean your mushroom.'

one night at bedtime.

river: 'what is that?' pointing to my chest.
me: 'i don't know.'
river: 'your tummy.'
me: 'oh right here' indicating my stomach
river: 'uh-huh, i live in there.'
me: shocked he even knows this, 'you did live in there when you were a little baby.'
river: 'i big boy.'
me: 'who else lives in there?'
river: thinking...'berty!'
me: 'berty did live in there!'
river: 'daddy live in there!'
me: 'noo...'
river: 'daddy too big.' signing 'all' with his hands he repeats 'all of em, all of em...both of us!' (meaning he and berty) and snuggles in.
