i loved the neighborhood our honeymoon condo was in, i felt safe and it was a beautiful non-touristy area. we were located in lower pacific heights, two blocks from japantown but it only took a 5 block walk to arrive in a depreciated part of san fran - we went in search of a mcdonald's one day and ran into two police officers frisking a ruffian down. but all in all it was perfect, were were able to walk to everything we needed: pizza inferno, the corner goodwill, the grocery market and all the fun boutique type thrift stores. i wandered into this hip thrift store for young professionals one afternoon and came out paying $13 for a beautiful yellow v-neck. don't ask me how, i never pay $13 for anything, brand-new or not...i must have been on vacation. :)

the architecture was gorgeous. we never got around to seeing the famous painted ladies you see on the intro to 'full house' but what we did see was amazing. i loved walking through the history of the city.

st. dominic's catholic church, i have run across wedding photos on the web of the inside of this beautiful church. this also reminds me of all the wedding parties we saw in the garden at the palace of fine arts when we wandered by the saturday we were there.

we definitely got our exercise on the steep hills.

an address marker in pacific heights. we were continually amazed at the million dollar homes we passed by in this area - houses that were no bigger than what would be considered modestly small in the midwest with the tiniest of yards only big enough for one perfectly groomed tree. we really are blessed with space here in mn.
