woohoo! the cowardly tooth finally showed its face and mom and dad are so thankful for better sleep. the past month has been a bit of teething hell and we are so thankful it's over. river was waking 2-3 times every night and having difficulty going down, our (all three of us) health was declining as a result. i think we have earned our teething badge. (i have heard the first is the worst? please tell me that's true.)
speaking of our health, river caused a little bump in the road with a full-out body rash after a small cold a few weeks back. i kept my cool and it did clear within a couple of days. it occurred about a week after our camping trip where he and his cousin had been swapping toys the whole time. not surprisingly cousin mirinda followed suit with a similar rash a few days after river.
as i mentioned - he has his first camping trip under his belt! but more on that in another post. (i keep promising follow-up posts, i need to deliver on that, if only for my own keepsakes and posterity)
solid food - river has decided it is for the birds. he will take bits here and there but if he doesn't fancy it he is spitting/blowing bubbles of it in our faces. quite frustrating. good thing he's cute. :)
other things that are capturing his attention of late - the vacuum! he's obsessed. if i want to calm a fussy river - put him in the walker and bring out the dyson. he's like a moth to a flame. on or off it hypnotizes him - mouth agape and moving forward in a trance, it's the cutest thing. he also loves his toys - he adores opening and closing books, mommy's baking utensils and using the nuk as a teething toy, he's not a fan of its pacifying properties - only the boob for this one, imagine the horror of mom offering him a dummy.
it's hard to believe this little guy has been with us for over half a year. i remember when those early newborn days seemed never-ending and so difficult. but now here we are - and he's the best.
the best.
