liberty azama - twelve months

now that you are a year old you've decided to show us with walking and talking. i think it was the day before your birthday that you really started taking a few steps at a time and you are getting more confident everyday.  you mimic words and phrases we say - 'hi daddy' and 'all done' and are just starting to sign a tiny bit - the all done sign is your jam. you and daddy have a little bedtime routine where i hold you and you give him a head tap. he tries to get you to snuggle him in the same way when he's holding you by telling you, 'say good night to daddy,' but you will only comply if i'm holding you. i think you are working on some more teeth because you've been waking up more at night - so far you have four on top and two on bottom. speaking of midnight wakings - thank goodness for breastfeeding cuz that has been softening the pain. we are still going strong even though we used up the last of the freezer stash the day before your birthday. we nurse 3-5 times a day. you've been a little more picky about table food lately and i'm hoping it's your mouth bothering you. time will tell. you are still a great eater and will try most new things. your mannerisms are maturing as you interact with toys and those around you. i think you've been watching your big brother too much because the other day i saw you climb on petra and ride her like a horse. play in becoming even more intentional with imitation play - drinking from cups, dusting with a rag. you have been playing the xylophone like a champ and have been enjoying putting things away - in the toybox, the shapes container, etc. you do enjoy making  a mess of my cupboards as well though, spreading their contents across the floor. you are a delightful, happy little girl and we are so happy you are a part of our family. i hope you always know how wonderful you are.
