last night josh brought up the subject of dreams/hopes/goals. this is something we struggle with sometimes - we have long-term goals but feel as though it is a long time before they will come to fruition. dreams akin to living in the country, adopting a child, traveling overseas...for now we try to focus on our short-term goals until we amass the money and means to carry out our bigger dreams.
i've been better at making lists of things i want to do within the last year. before we moved into our house i compiled a series of goals i wanted to accomplish after settling into our new home. i/we achieved about 75% of those within our first year. a few that i have pushed back are 1)taking a community ed class with hubby, i.e. - a dance class, anything from a waltz to salsa 2) get josh a gat, specifically a handgun 3) restring my pearl bracelet 4) make my own yogurt 5) etc. etc. some are within reach and some take setting aside some cash for.
but while we continue to work on our current ambitions (such as this list) there is one future aspiration i want to make a little more personal at this time.
one of my residents recently decorated his room with a large (think 5'x6') color world map. whenever i enter his room it grabs my attention which leads to discussions of maps/geography/travel/etc. i currently have a US raised relief map hanging in our office but i want to expand our horizons. world map here we come! i hope to find a large scale map we can hang in our family room. with different colored pins to show where we've lived, where we've visited and where we hope to voyage someday. if anybody has input on where to find a great map, do tell! i would like a map with countries and large cities labeled. although, these picks on etsy have piqued my interest. :)

I've seen good maps at book stores. They also have good ones at teacher stores.
