strong enough to bend

the gloom is over and we are relishing the sunshine the weekend has brought. the rummage sale went well and i got rid of all the big pieces i wanted to purge. just have to fill a box with the rest to donate. petra had a hay-day while we held the rummage sale - josh's cousins came and played fetch with her all day everyday and she did not tire. monday evening the sun came out to play and we played hard with her in the yard.

unfortunately she doesn't know how to pace herself, she will play all out and sometimes this leads to her demise. that night she had a limp and when i got up tuesday morning she wouldn't even use her right front paw. i, of course, was bawling but i knew we needed to give her time. she didn't once whine or whimper and when i ran my hand along her leg she didn't indicate any areas of acute pain indicating a break. thankfully by wednesday she was pretty much back to baseline and by thursday she was tearing around the yard again. guess i gotta trust her instincts.
last night we crossed another event off the summer to-do list. blissful summer concert with tanya tucker.

unfortunately a tree in our backyard was not strong enough to bend. i have noted so many large trees downed from the high winds last week. thankfully none that landed on homes though.

my peonies are highly harvestable at this time and along with their lucious blooms i've been bringing in the ants. ahh, well. i'll take them over the giant spiders i've been finding lurking in the basement any day. i think i have an overflowing vase in almost every room right now.

i found this little guy hanging out on the garden shed, he pretended he didn't see me.

still so young

Hi! Your peonies are HUGE...wow, a room looks so wonderful with fresh flowers. I am glad petra is feeling better, she sure loves to play---those labs and all their energy!:) I LOVE your dress/outfit, is that what you wore to the concert? you find so many fun things to do. <3 you.

I know how you feel about your doggy! Isis wears herself out and limps, too. I feel so bad for her! And this last weekend, we think she broke/sprained her tail. I was so ready to take her in! But we better wait and see what heppens :)

Sounds like Summer is shaping up nicely! Glad your pup is okay... my dogs do the same if we take them to the beach or something. They don't know moderation - they go hard all day and nearly injure themselves!

I love your amazing peonies and I'm quite partial to a tooled leather belt, too :) x claire
