3 day weekend

the living room is my favorite area in the house. i would spend all day in there if i could. if i'm gonna nap i usually snuggle in on the slip-covered couch and doze off to a spinning vinyl. it's my reading nook of a choice and i'll usually beg josh to curl up on the loveseat with me as my foot-warmer. when i am home alone, i usually fix my breakfast and plop down on the couch to enjoy the view. without trying to sound too materialistic this room is my happy place. the objects within it are not just decor but tell a story. so much of our house has been gifted/thrifted/rummage saled that i can't help but remember an anecdote for most things.

i have an extra long weekend and most of my time is accounted for with tasks around home. currently i'm avoiding making the jaunt into the tire and auto shop to have my car looked at. i plan to spend the rest of my time ordering maternity clothes online (i can't make it any longer), trying to de-stink some vintage baby clothes in the washer (vinegar, anyone?) whipping up some potato soup, prep for a baby shower i'm throwing next weekend, maybe haul out some christmas decor (this is a necessity!) and attempt a project for what will soon be part of my new favorite room. no sew bunting! this past week i thrifted some scrap fabric and bedsheets for some nursery bunting. i'm hoping to finish it up this weekend and maybe even use it as part of the decor for the baby shower next week.

i have not made much progress on the nursery of late - mostly just washing baby clothes people have given us and organizing. we have made one big change of late though. we found a 'changing table'. i have been searching craigslist for months and i finally found the one. not too short, nice and long and just deep enough for a changing pad. i had been drawn to the antique dressers with gorgeous curvy mirrors but my practical side told me i didn't want to go through the work of refinishing and of course i'm cheap. so, meet little man's throne.

i also added a couple new stations to my pandora account - 'the charleston' station, a 'pennies from heaven' station and a 'skinny love' station. i have too many stations, i'm always adding one here and there.

I have that SAME dresser!! Well, mine has only 2 drawers on the top, but the hardware and curvy detail is the same! :)
