music,books and pumpkins

First off, my vinyl record collection count is now at 17! And I don't even own a record player yet! How am I ever going to decide which one I am going to listen to first?!

I am so excited about my Fleetwood Mac 'Rumours', The Sound of Music soundtrack and my Roger Miller Golden Hits album. Most of these records are practically mint and you can't beat $0.25-$1.00 apiece.

Moving on, last night was pumpkin carving night around here! Josh wanted to carve a pumpkin together and save the other one for his parents. But after about five minutes of WATCHING him carve the pumpkin I was ready to dig into my own.

Starting his pumpkin with what I swear was just a serrated bread knife, but the tip was awful pointy. So I guess not.

Apparently he is trying to show me what his jack-o-lantern is going to look like, jk.

The final masterpieces.
I used a stencil from Country Living Magazine, isn't it adorable? If you can't tell what it is - it's a lantern on a jack-o-lantern! I carved it into each side of the pumpkin, stabbed it with a screwdriver to create the little holes and just used a black sharpie to color it in. And while we are on the topic of Country Living Magazine let me just say - I love it! Not to mention I just found out that the granddaughter of one of my resident's is an editor for them! It's such a small world!

Last topic before the day is through. Who has read "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez? I read another one of his works "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" in high school. The latter was decent from what I remember. But "Love in the Time of Cholera" I just do not get. I did not find it romantic that the Florentino Ariza remains obsessed with Fermina Daza for 50 years, while she has a husband and family of her own. And while he is waiting for her husband to die he beds some 600 women? Call me crazy. I can now check that off my reading list and know that I don't need to waste my time on the movie.
"Atonement" by Ian McEwan was another matter though, I thought it was decent and the ending was very appropriate. That is one book turned movie I wouldn't mind to take a gander at.
As for now, the book residing on my bed-side table is "Tender is the Night" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, who authored "The Great Gatsby." Thus far, it has proved interesting. We shall see.

Who can tell I learned how to make links in this post? So fun, I just might have to go over my previous posts and see if anything else needs a link. :)
