walter matthau is classic. i love him in the 'grumpy old men' movies and i especially love him in 'dennis the menace'. back in his army days he was in the same army bombardment group as jimmy stewart during WWII! talk about a small world.
anywho, i was watching 'grumpier old men' the other night, the scene where walter matthau and sophia loren are night-crawler picking. it never fails to remind me of night-crawler picking as a kid. going out after dark, wearing the mud boots due to the dewy grass, trying to master the skill of not shining the flashlight directly on the crawler. then reaching out like lightning only to meet up in the vicious tug-of-war. it was disgustingly thrilling as you tried to wrench those babies out of the ground.
