april showers -or- do you wanna come over and listen to records?

pat benetar herself joined the crew today and i am happy to add a little girl rock to my folky/classic country vinyl mix. it's been a pretty good week over here. yesterday we got the whole kit-and-kaboodle - woke up to snow, watched the neighbor kids dance in the hail (see below) and then had a nice little rain at sunset (see below, below).

today on my way home -from my annual computer training a mi trabajo, still haven't finished it- my eye caught site of a lone blaze orange sign at the one traffic light in my town. of course i braked and pulled a 180 and ended up driving way out in the boondocks. but it was worth it, probably because most people weren't willing to drive out so far on a brisk day such as this. see my treasures?

a little kitschy wall art, the complete LOTR trilogy along with 'the hobbit', i only had part of this vintage collection prior, so hubby is pretty thrilled about the complete box set. and a fun little bamboo mug, maybe to hold toothbrushes in my bamboo-inspired bathroom?

and of course, jumpsuit-clad pat benetar was part of the mix of treasures found today.
we are working on 'the pacific' as of yet (remember when i gave it to josh for his bday?). and today a kind co-worker lent me the foreign film sophie scholl, it looks incredibly powerful. so you can guess what we are  up to lately, immersing ourselves in WWII. not to mention, i finished the book thief, heartbreakingly beautiful (set in germany during the hitler's reign). you must read it, i enjoyed  it and it is now on my christmas list.

Fun finds! I am going to have to read The Book Thief. I have been interested in that time period lately---especially when I read about it in books! I love your little chickadee painting, so cute.

Hey! So funny that you are gonna watch Sophie Scholl. Last semester that book was used in 2 of my classes and I watched the film. I didn't get too into the book, but the film helped a lot with understanding. (and I've recently become obsessed with Pat Benatar's "hit me with your best shot." such a catchy song!)
