here we go

gonna pump it out bullet style today, since we have to get petra to the vet for her lymes booster in half an hour. :)

- i made a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! i believe it was only my second cake ever, believe it or not (see the first one here) - guess we're not cake people. you can view it in all its delicious/blundered glory below. not only did the centers fall in but i ran out of frosting - the directions were for a rectangle cake and for frosting enough to cover the top of that cake. i thought i could trump the recipe and make a 3 layer cake. ahh, well. it was still yummy.

-spring green buds are just starting to emerge on the tops of the trees today

-kristin, want you to know i'm representing OBU today with my faded/bleach-stained black tee. :)

-couldn't believe the gobs of her hair floating around the neighborhood as we combed petra on the front stoop this morning, another reminder that spring has come

-beef kabobs on the grill tonight, our first grill night of the season (i don't think -7*F in february counts as the season, cuz i'm pretty sure that's the last time we grilled)

-slow-danced to sweet baby james in the living room this AM, trying to teach hubby how to lead. not that i'm an expert by ANY means

-daydreaming about hydrangeas and crabapple trees for the frontyard this summer

-for my sil jennie - to get you started on dear baby - these are some of my favorite posts: simple traditions, letters to arlo, the continuation of and, and letters to everly. happy reading!

Haha! Love the cake! And I want to see your posts about San Francisco!

Let's see... Scott says his favorite part was the food, specifically Boudin's on the boardwalk. To die for! I like pier 39, and riding the cable cars down to Union Square for some shopping. We were there New Years Eve/New Years though so everything was crowded and busy and festive, which made it all the more fun. Other than that it was pretty cold/rainy so we didn't go out a lot-- no alcatraz or anything. Plus, we didn't rent a car so we never went far, just rode the cable cars a lot!! Ok, this is wayyyy tooo long of a comment...
