i went to a wonderful concert last month and it may be cliche but this is the one song i want to share with you from an amazing evening. 

don't you just love them?
i have another song i plan on sharing from the concert in a few weeks! different artist though.

the highway i take to work is currently being modified into a 4 lane beast. and while i love the idea of being able to drive 65mph all the way to work, i'm not loving the process. this piece of highway is not necessarily beautiful but there are pieces i am going to miss as it transitions. 

there extensive stretches of road harbored by large evergreens - obviously planted when the road was first constructed, judging by their crowns. i've been watching them be torn down each day and i have to admit it makes me blue. i used to love peeking through these trees at the farm fields beyond in the early morning. the corn grows in little valleys and morning fog rests in these hollows. i love watching the morning sun illuminate the low-lying clouds through the trees. and while i can still appreciate the beauty of the dawn, i just miss the comfort of being surrounded by forest (you may be reminded of the post where i talk about missing the woods of northern MN). 

i have definitely felt sheltered by these roadside forests in the dead of winter when blizzard winds cause dangerous drifting in the road. not to mention i feel for the people who live near the highway who are now just little bit closer to a speeding artery. 

ugh, change. sometimes i dislike you.
